Today, 3rd June 2011 is the last date for submitting filled in applications to Anna University. And the applicants have to wait till the rank list announced by Anna University.
In the meantime, applicants are requested to verify the status of their application from the link given below.

The authority for admitting students for various Government, Government aided and Private Engineering Colleges in the State of Tamil Nadu is Anna University, Chennai.

The Anna University being the nodal government agency for admitting engineering students, it will issue advertisements during the end of academic year every year calling for applications for various engineering courses from students who are seeking seats in colleges under the academic control of Anna University.

Now the Anna University is admitting students based on their Plus two marks and no entrance examination is conducted and the entrance examination has been abolished in Anna University admission.

The admission is called TNEA (TAMIL NADU ENGINEERING ADMISSION) and now the Anna University has published about the ensuing TNEA 2011 and the link provides the minimum cutoff marks and maximum ranks scored during the last year (2010) .

The last year cut off marks will enlighten the students to know their position in a better way AND they can to some extent decide themselves about the Course and the Engineering College they may get in this year’s Counseling.

The information of MINIMUM CUT OFF MARKS 2010 AND MAXIMUM RANK is available in the ANNA UNIVERSITY WEBSITE.

To study in Anna University one has to secure more than 198. For your sister, if she prefers less demanding branch of study, there are little chances to study in Anna University. Instead she can study good branch in a private/Government engineering college. Good luck.

Community is a vital point while deciding the rank. Though 181 is not a bad cut off, you may get Mechanical in colleges around Coimbatore, in less popular colleges.

There are chances to get Civil in Coimbatore. But the colleges would of less popular, because of your low cut off marks. Good luck.

There are pretty chances to get a good engineering college. Last year, it was 196.25 in GCT, hence you should carefully select a good college at Coimbatore.

No chance for this Mark in any Government Colleges. But if you prefer Tamil Medium, there are little chances at University colleges at Kanyakumari or Thoothukudi.

There are lot of chances to get a seat in Colleges nearer to Chennai. But you may get in less so popular colleges.

Better to study Civil at GCT, rather than Mechanical at Krishna.
