In recognition of their contribution to the sports world, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Abhinav Bindra have been adorned with honorary Lt. Colonels of Indian Army.  It is a pride and privilege to these sports personalities who have taken India to the top position in their respective sports fields, viz, cricket and shooting.   Dhoni made India proud by winning in the cricket World Cup and was main cause for taking the team to the top position in Test rankings for the first time.  In the year 2007, he led India to victory in the T20 world championship.

Abhinav Bindra clinched individual Gold Medal in the Beijing Olympics with a Gold medal and made India pride on his achievement.

Reports say that President of India has approved the proposals of granting honorary commissions to the two sports personalities with the honorary award of lt.colonel.

In the year 2008 Kapil Dev was conferred with honorary Lt.Col in the Territorial Army and Sachin Tendulkar as honorary Group Capital in the Indian Air Force in the year 2010.

We wish Dhoni and Bindra on this happiest moment.
