With profound sorrow we record the grave accident that took 23 lives on the fateful night of 7th June 2011. A Private omni bus plying from Chennai to Thiruppur met with an accident in the wee hours and in the melee the bus plunged into a deep pit causing fire to the bus in which all the occupants who were fast asleep were charred to death.

The fire broke out due to the bursting of the fuel tank in the accident and even before the passengers could realise the worst position, the bus was completely under fire causing the major loss of lives.

The driver of the bus and another lone passenger who was occupying the last seat with his wife escaped in this accident. The lone passenger who escaped in the accident lost his wife.

The driver of the bus has surrendered to the police and investigation is on.

The bus belongs to the KPN Travels.

This is the worst bus accident that has taken more lives in the recent time
